DYING WOODS AND ocean waves
Every year, the Forest Condition Report is published in Germany. It is becoming increasingly dramatic. Meanwhile, 80% of the forest stock is damaged. Bark beetles, hurricane-like storms, and drought are affecting German and European forests. Moritz Holfelder translates their condition into surreal images. With his series AUFBÄUMUNG (Rebellion), which he will show in Seeshaupt, he alienates the dying of our forests: he takes photographs of trees lying on the ground, broken and uprooted, and rights them again by simply rotating the photos 90°.
The second exhibition in spring 2026 at the House of Photography in Burghausen will follow on from the photos of waves and people at the seaside shown during the japanese Photography Festival KYOTOGRAPHIE. The images will be complemented by meditative photos of calm water surfaces at the edge of lakes and rivers.
