WINTER

Watching it snow with the camera

You can hear the snow falling

Trees in the snow are fascinating. I photographed these fir trees when it was snowing like crazy in the Karwendel mountains in Upper Bavaria at the beginning of December. More snow fell in a few hours than ever before.
In a very short space of time, the world seemed as magical as it was threatening. The fir trees stood side by side in the twilight like a heavily laden, silent army. You could hear the falling snow rustling, eerily. I wanted to capture this moment. This strange mixture of magic and paralysis. The photo complements my series of trees, which I rarely take in winter, but mostly in spring and fall.
